don’t tell me you don’t feel it too
because it’s there
slipping beneath our midnight conversations
and the mile of distance between our fingers when we walk side by side
the silence is so edible
as our lips quiver with questions waiting to be asked
do you love me?
what are we?
don’t even lie to yourself that it isn’t
because i tried it once, it never worked.
